Help sustain and protect the park’s natural areas while giving something truly special to honor a loved one in the heart of Brooklyn’s Backyard. While we can’t guarantee when your plant will flower or its exact location, whenever you stroll through the park, you will know that your bloom is among the flowering plants.

Goldenrod

Autumn is arguably Prospect Park’s most spectacular flower season, and Goldenrods are some of the most beautiful and ubiquitous blooms from late August through September. These bright yellow flowers are vital to the park's ecosystem, providing food for countless pollinators, particularly native bees.

Eastern Columbine

The vibrant red and distinctive tubular flowers are the most unique blooms in Prospect Park. This native species thrives in sunny spots and along the edges of woodlands throughout Prospect Park, providing pollen for native bees and ruby-throated hummingbirds. These blooms can be found in the park from May through early June.

Wild Bergamot

Wild Bergamot, also known as Bee Balm, has been planted by Prospect Park Alliance along the edges of the woodlands. This hardy perennial, which blooms from late June through early September, attracts pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, and can grow up to a height of 4 feet. Additionally, it was widely used medicinally by Native Americans.

Common Ninebark

Common Ninebark

Delicate cream and pink flowers erupt on this shrub throughout May and June and can be found along the edges of open woodlands in Prospect Park. This large sun-loving shrub attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies, is a larval host for moths, and has medicinal uses in some Native American cultures.

Other Commemorative Gift Options

Arbor Day Commmunity Tree Planting

Fri. April 25, 2025

Each Arbor Day, Prospect Park Alliance plants two community trees in Prospect Park. The Alliance’s arborist chooses the species and location of the trees, which will all be planted together in the Park.

All donors and their honorees are invited to participate in the tree planting on Arbor Day, sharing this experience with their community.

Commemorative Benches



Commemorate a loved one or a special occasion with a personalized bench in Prospect Park. Install a new bench in Prospect Park, or adopt an existing bench you already know and love from among the hundreds in and around the park. With either option, the Alliance will install a plaque with the personal inscription of your choice.
